Rifle season for deer ended Saturday and hunters have the chance to donate their deer to help the hungry.

McCready’s Deer Processing is just one place that participates in “hunters sharing the harvest.”

All you have to do is bring your deer to the business and they take care of the rest.

They’ll process it and put the meat into 2-pound packages of burgers to help a local food pantry.

“We usually do around 600-700 pounds a year,” Jason McCready, the owner of McCready’s Deer Processing, said. “They figure four people per pound so that’s like 2,400-2,800 meals just out of here.”

We also wanted to know how the season went for hunters.

The PA Game Commission said they won’t have an official number of how many deer were hunted until the end of the year.
