The Cambria County Humane Society has named a new executive director.

The humane society’s board of directors unanimously voted to hire Johnstown-native Jessica Vamos, who currently works as the sales, marketing, & event manager for 1st Summit Arena @ Cambria County War Memorial.

The former executive director resigned after the shelter’s board of directors president, Tim Burns, was recently cited for sanitary violations at the shelter.

Burns said the board is excited to have someone who loves animals, has adopted rescues – including a pit bull- and is committed to the shelter’s new “Quality of Life” policy.

“Plus, a lot of enthusiasm for the position. She shares our no-kill philosophy, which we adopted in May. So we’re really excited to have Jessica onboard,” said Tim Burns, President of the Cambria County Humane Society Board of Directors.

Vamos will start her new position on December 4, 2017. The shelter is also in the process of hiring an animal control officer and two kennel attendants.
