The Pennsylvania Department of Health says 21 state residents died from flu complications last week in the state. Since October, the death toll from flu-related illness stands at 91 patients. Most of them were 65 or older. There were only two deaths in Pennsylvanians under 18 years old.
The report also showed Allegheny County with the highest number of confirmed flu cases this season, at 6,286. As of the end of last week, the number of confirmed influenza cases was higher than in any other year, in the past nine years, according to health department figures.
