Local police and a hospital are sending out a warning to their patients about a scam phone caller.

Some Penn Highlands Healthcare customers in the area have received scam phone calls from someone claiming they work for the hospital. This person has asked for personal information and had tried to sell insurance or a benefits package.

The hospital is reminding everyone to not share their personal information with anyone. They encourage anyone who receives this type of phone call to hang up and report it to police.

Penn Highlands Healthcare said they are not selling any benefits or insurance. If you are a patient there, your personal information should already be on file. They said they will not be verifying it over the phone.
