Conemaugh Nason Medical Center has been designated a Blue Distinction Center for Maternity Care by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.

The Blue Distinction Center Program evaluates hospitals on quality measures for vaginal and cesarean delivery, including cost efficiency. To receive this recognition, hospitals must demonstrate expertise in delivering improved safety and health outcomes for patients.

Conemaugh Nason says its Special Delivery Unit provides no elective inductions or deliveries prior to 39 weeks gestation unless medically necessary, and that its cesarean section rate is well below the national average.
