Hospital adopts new look, new logo

A local hospital unveiled a new look this week.

The name Nason has been first in the title of Nason Hospital and then, Nason Medical Center, for more than 100 years. That changed last week, when the facility became Conemaugh Nason Medical Center.

The process started when Duke LifePoint, which already owned Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown  bought Nason a little over two years ago. Then, Nason became  part of the Conemaugh Health System.

Yesterday, the heart was taken off of the logo of the hospital in Roaring Spring, to be replaced by the Conemaugh Pyramid. Conemaugh Nason CEO Tim  Harclerode said the community sees the name and logo changes as positive signs.

“There’s been speculation for years, even before the acquisition, where we formally became part of the Conemaugh System when we were purchased by  LifePoint,  we would downsize we would close, we would be rolled into various competing organizations,  and so  that’s not true, he said.

“We’re putting our flag in the  ground and we’re saying we’re here to stay, we’re here to grow, we’re part of  Conemaugh  Health System. “We have the support  of an amazing  three-hospital system already, that we’re now  the fourth, so, there’s nowhere but up for us.”

Harclerode said the new name acknowledges Dr. Albert Nason who started the hospital, but also recognizes that Conemaugh Nason  is now part of something bigger.
