For the 34th year, Pennsylvanians gathered at the state capitol for a ceremony remembering the atrocities of the Holocaust.
Among those in attendance were Holocaust survivors as well as family members of survivors.
They lit candles in honor of the victims.
The state’s Lt. Governor, House Speaker, and Auditor General all spoke at Wednesday’s ceremony.
Each, spreading the message to always remember what happened and that it could happen again.
“The notion that it could not happen again is, I think, sadly mistaken,” said Pennsylvania House Speaker Rep. Mike Turzai.
Both the House and Senate passed resolutions declaring Thursday, April 12th “Holocaust Remembrance Day” in Pennsylvania.
