High school seniors from Brockway Area High School hosted a blood drive Wednesday for the American Red Cross.
The American Red Cross is experiencing a blood shortage.
Karen Sistek with the American Red Cross said shortages happen this time of year because people are busy around the holidays and less drives are being held.
One unit of blood can help up to three people.
“It keeps blood on the shelves of the hospitals,” Sistek said. “It keeps it there for people who need transfusions due to illness, for people who need transfusions due to accidents.”
Another blood drive will be held at DuBois Nursing Home Friday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
