There are several holiday events happening this weekend in Centre County. See the full schedule of events below:
FRIDAY
Crafterschool Holiday Bread Bar 5 p.m.
The Makery, located on 205 W. Calder Way, will be hosting holiday jewelry making at 5 p.m. The cost is $25 per child and is recommended for ages 6-12.
FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY
16th Annual Stocking Stuffer 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday
Featuring more than 50 regional fine artists, antique dealers and crafters, this three-day fundraiser event at Centre Furnace Mansion, 1001 E. College Ave. The event also includes wreath and swag making demonstrations, author signings, hot cider, cookies and more. Admission is $5 and proceeds benefit the Centre County Historical Society.
FRIDAY AND SATURDAY
Merry Millheim 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, times vary on Saturday
Millheim’s annual celebration features music, food, shopping, crafts and other activities in and around downtown Friday and Saturday. Check out the handmade holiday market in Bremen Town Hall, caroling and the tree lighting, a free movie, Christmas pageant, a petting zoo and more.
A Christmas Carol 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday
Class Act Productions presents a community theater performance of the classic Dickens tale, “A Christmas Carol” at State College Assembly of God Church, 2201 University Drive Extension. Tickets at the door are $13 for general admission, $5 for ages 2-12.
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY
Rhoneymeade Winter Market 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
Enjoy shopping at Rhone House and find an array of gifts: handmade baskets and wreaths, wooden utensils and and boxes crafted by Steve Strouse, a hand-turned bowl by Robert Martin, hand-carved birds and animals, holiday collectibles and more. Proceeds help support Rhoneymeade’s public programs. The event is happening at Rhoneymeade Arboretum and Sculpture Garden, 177 Rimmey Road, Centre Hall.
Design Your Own Gift Wrap 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, 2 to 4:20 p.m. Sunday
Kids can bring their gifts and wrap them in their own creative, one-of-a-kind gift wrap at Schlow Library Children’s Activity Room.
Polar Express 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4:20 p.m. Sunday
Pre-registration is closed. See details on walk-in registration here. Listen to the story of “The Polar Express” in the Schlow Library Children’s Department and ride the trolley through Downtown State College. Children will receive a small drawstring bag with a bell and a coin to spend at Santa’s Workshop. Photos with Santa will be available at Santa’s Workshop.
SATURDAY
Boalsburg Hometown Christmas 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Community members can experience a small-town Christmas in historic Boalsburg Village. There will be a breakfast with Santa from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the Boalsburg Fire Hall. There will also be a tree lighting, Christmas music and singalongs, opportunities to shop, horse-drawn carriage rides down Main Street and more. Santa and Mrs. Clause will be at the fire truck for the tree lighting at 4:45 p.m. There will also be a Holiday Hop at the fire hall.
Winter Craft Market 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
More than 70 artisans will be at the Central Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen’s 43rd Annual Winter Craft Market at Penn Stater Conference Center Hall. Admission is $3 and is free for children 12 and under. The market is dedicated to supporting art and artists in Centre County.
Home Depot Children’s Workshop 9 a.m. to noon
The community is invited to build and decorate a model sleigh with reindeer at 2615 Greentech Drive. Online registration is required.
Christmas Extravaganza 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The public can enjoy a pancake breakfast at Warriors Mark United Methodist Church at 1840 Centre Line Road. Santa and Mrs. Clause will be available for pictures from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and kids can enjoy crafts and activities provided by Huntingdon County Pop Up Library. The cost is $7 for adults, and $3 for children 10 and under.
Mount Nittany UMC Craft Fair 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Vendors will be at the Mount Nittany United Methodist Church at 1500 E. Branch Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Refreshments will be available to purchase.
Elves Gift Shop 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Children have the opportunity to shop for inexpensive holiday gifts for teachers, parents, friends, pets, and siblings with the help of a local Girl Scout “elf”. The event is being held at Park Forest Middle School on 2180 School Drive. Admission is free.
Philipsburg Home for the Holidays 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
This all-day event includes live Christmas music, vendors, a cookie walk, photos with Santa, family activities and a tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. at the corner lot.
Winter Festival 1 to 4 p.m.
Penn State’s Blue & White Society will host a Winter Festival benefitting THON at the Hintz Family Alumni Center in University Park. Pictures with Santa cost $3 and are available from 2 to 4 p.m., ornament decorating costs $3, a concessions table, card making and more will be available.
Live Nativity 5 to 7 p.m.
The community can enjoy a traditional live Nativity at St. John’s United Church of Christ at 218 N. Church Street in Boalsburg. Live actors and a narrator will perform the Christmas story every 30 minutes. Hot cider, hot chocolate, cookies, and chicken and corn soup will also be available. Food is free, but donations will be accepted for disaster relief efforts through UCC Disaster Ministries.
SUNDAY
Alternative Christmas Fair 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Alternative Christmas Fair offers an opportunity to shop for meaningful gifts by donating to 26 participating nonprofit organizations at the University Baptist & Brethren Church at 411 S. Burrowes Street. Soup and a sandwich lunch will also be available.
Sugar Plum Fairy Tea Party 1 to 3 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.
The Nittany Ballet’s Sugar Plum Fairy will read to children and lead other characters through a Nutcracker performance as well as a craft at Toftrees Golf Resort and Conference Center.
Holiday Ice Snow 1 to 3:30 p.m.
The Nittany Valley Figure Skating Club will present its “Happy Holidays” ice show on the Varsity Ice at Pegula Ice Arena. Tickets are $5 donation, cash only, and are available at the door. Children 5 and under get in for free.
Frozen 6:15 p.m.
Harmony, a performing arts program for children and young adults with and without special needs, will perform songs from the movie “Frozen” in Schwab Auditorium. Admission is free.
