The suspect is a convicted felon and was out on probation. His name hasn’t been released yet because charges haven’t been filed in this case.
Police tracked him down at his house Tuesday and searched his room where they found an arsenal of knives, guns, ammunition, pills and equipment for a meth lab. Police also found an Anarchy Cookbook, which is linked to domestic terrorism. Hastings police said they’re glad they caught him before anything bad happened.
“It’s actually kind of scary. we’re starting to see big city problems in our small town. Who knows what could have happened. It could have been a bombing. Could have been a killing. Just the drugs alone could kill someone. Taking it off the street could have saved someone’s life,” said Chief Ronald Sharkey from the Hastings Police Department.
Police said they were most surprised to find the Anarchy Cookbook, which is found on dark websites. The FBI could get involved because of the domestic terrorism threat, so it could be weeks until the suspect could be officially charged and appear in court.
