A group of volunteers in Nanty Glo packed hundreds of boxes of food Wednesday for local families in need.
Box after box, Roy Sipe loaded up canned vegetables, cereal and peanut butter. Sipe volunteers for the Interfaith Food Pantry, which helps feed up to 300 families every month.
“Until you do this, and I didn’t realize, there are so many people in our local area who are hungry,” Sipe said.
Volunteers from about ten churches in Nanty Glo, Cresson and Mundys Corner make the pantry possible.
“It’s a good feeling. And I think everyone here walks away with a good feeling as well,” said Stan Popich, another volunteer.
Sipe said the hard work and heavy-lifting is worth it for such a good cause.
“Seeing the joy on some of those people’s faces, that’s the reward right there,” Sipe said.
