The Tyrone Police Department is making strides towards getting a new K-9 officer. The department has selected a handler for the police canine.
Officer Scott Beall will be the man working with the dog. He and Chief John Romeo went out on Tuesday to look at potential dogs, and they think they’ve found the one. The dog and Officer Beall will be in training for six weeks.
The folks at the police department said a K-9 officer will heighten public relations within the community as well as help with patrol duties.
Fundraising efforts are still going on in the community.
On Saturday, there will be a spaghetti dinner at the Church of the Good Shepherd from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Also, t-shirts are on sale at the Tyrone Municipal Building.
