The Central Pennsylvania Arts Festival continues to draw artists from all over the county.

Painting has been Lu Fuller’s passion ever since she was a little girl growing up on a farm in Kentucky.

“When I was a little girl, my dad would say to my mom, ‘That girl’s out there drawing the cows again. Whatever’s going to happen to her?'” water color artist  Lu Fuller said. 

What her father didn’t know at the time is that she would go on to study art at the University of Kentucky and land herself a job with Hallmark designing greeting cards. 

Fuller said the greeting card business was all about imagining someone opening a card and smiling. It’s that philosophy that she has carried with her into her personal water color paintings.

“I like to think that when people get up in morning, as they walk to their kitchen, if they go past my…a painting of mine, it can set the mood for the day,” Fuller said. 

Fuller said she and her husband have been coming to the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts for at least 25 years now.

While their home is back on the farm in Kentucky, Fuller said it’s the people that she’s gotten to know here that makes her feel like she’s coming home.

“This (has) been one of my favorite places to come…I’ve watched families grow and people have children and they come back and also people that have been collecting my work every year,” Fuller said. 

While she never imagined herself as a professional artist, she hopes to leave her work and a smile for years to come.
