A group of kids in Altoona got a taste of what it’s like to be a barista Monday night!
Greenbean Coffee House teamed up with the kids from local non-profit called Evolution Expressions.
The baristas there taught the kids how to make drinks.
Then, they split into three teams and created a drink of their own!
WTAJ’s Amanda Kenney and Alex Hazard were two of the four judges tasked with choosing a winner.
The winning drink was created by Dacia Smith and Zach Walter. They call it the “Caramel Banana Twist.”
“The kids, they’re amazing to begin with and you can see the light bulb literally clicking on them, like ‘oh we could do this, we could do that’ and their imagination and everything they really want to do is starting to spark,” Greenbean Coffee House Owner and General Manager Travis McCabe said.
“I think that was the most important part of it, was to just have fun. It’s great to get together, compete. I mean, we’re all winning today. We all got to make some drinks and it was very fun,” said Walter.
The “Caramel Banana Twist” will be the featured drink at Greenbean Coffee House during the month of May.
When you purchase the drink, 50% it’s proceeds will go to Evolution Expressions.
Leadership Blair County helped coordinate the event for Evolution Expressions in an effort to raise money for the organization.
