The Wolf Administration continues to battle to opioid epidemic in our region.
Tuesday governor Tom Wolf announced four $1 million grants that will be used to expand access to medication assisted treatment for those suffering from addiction.
Wolf said the grants will help people recover in their own communities through a “hub and spoke” network of health care providers.
Wolf said this is just the beginning of his battle.
“We need knowledge and understanding throughout Pennsylvania,” said Wolf. “We are going to continue to work to build that and fight this epidemic. I know we Pennsylvanians can prevail in the long run.”
Pennsylvania’s “hub and spoke” model has an addiction specialist physician at the center to help support primary care physicians and help connect patients to drug and alcohol counseling in their communities.
