Two graduates of the State College High School returned to their alma mater tonight in support of music education.
Cecilia Leskowicz and Aileen McKinstry organized the Instruments for Change Concert and Silent Auction to raise money to provide instruments for students who may not be able to afford instruments. with the hopes of making the school’s music program available to everyone.
“I wanted to do something to give back to that program because even though we live in a well-off community, there’s still kids out there that can’t afford to get musical instruments and might not ever have the opportunities that I did, and I really want others to benefit from them,” Leskowicz said.
“I just benefited so much from this program, my brother’s benefited, my dad has benefited,” McKinstry said. “I just know so many people for whom this program means so much to, and I don’t want anyone to be deprived of everything this incredible organization has to offer.”
Proceeds will go towards an instrument fund, administered by the State College Music Boosters.
