Governor Wolf has stepped in on this matter and appointed Thomas Yablonski of Mechanicsburg as Blair County Sheriff.
Sam McClure’s attorney Paul Puskar withdrew their complaint because of this new information Blair County Commissioners brought to court Friday.
County Solicitor Nathan Karn says the county received a letter from Governor Wolf last night, exercising his right to appoint a new sheriff.
The governor had 90 days after the retirement of former Sheriff Mitch Cooper to take action.
The last day Governor Wolf could have appointed another sheriff is April 9th.
A PFA was also filed against Sam McClure and was also addressed in court.
An agreement was made without admission and the order is in place for the next 6 months.
Attorney Paul Puskar believes that the Blair County Commissioners knew that McClure would win in court and that’s why they secured a letter from Governor Wolf.
“Hey went to the governor and got a replacement named at the very last minute. That made the whole matter moot. We couldn’t have Sheriff Sam McClure reinstated as sheriff if the governor had already appointed somebody else.”
McClure plans to continue his efforts to campaign for the Blair County Sheriff position.
