Chief Dale Feathers of the Claysburg Fire Company passed away last week at the age of 56.

He started at the department as a teenager 40 years ago. Friday’s service was hosted at the fire hall with departments from all different counties in attendance. They say it was all about coming together as a fire fighting family.

Lt. James Musselman of Friendship Fire Company said, “They are brothers to us so when we lose one, it hits everybody pretty hard.”

2nd Assistant Chief Kevin Kuhn of the Lakemont Fire Department added, We rally around each other. People come from all over the area, they are several counties away. Fire departments are coming in to support the Claysburg fire company today. We all come together in times like this.”

Feathers passed away after complications with flu-like symptoms.
