This morning, a Funeral Mass was held for a State College man killed in Thursday night’s shooting.
Cars lined the parking lot of the Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in State College, for a Funeral Mass for 82-year-old George McCormick who was the final victim shot by Jordan Witmer, who broke into McCormick’s home on Tussey Lane lane.
Police say McCormick’s home was chosen at random. McCormick was killed on his 60th wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife Joann McCormick who locked herself in the bedroom for safety Thursday night before calling 911.
McCormick worked at Penn State as a foods supervisor and vending manager. After retiring, he owned a lawn care business.
McCormick was active with the Knights of Columbus.
Those who knew him say he was always the first to help when needed, and that he’ll be sorely missed.
McCormick is buried at the Boalsburg Cemetery.
He leaves behind three children, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
