BROOKS MILLS, BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Folks in the Blair County community are asking for your help to get feral cats in the area spayed and neutered.

This is through the Yard Kitty Sale in Brooks Mills at the former Freedom Archery building until Saturday at 8 p.m

All of the proceeds go towards the capture and procedures to sterilize these feral cats.

One of the volunteers at the sale, Celia Fagnani, said some people who feed these cats cannot afford to have them spayed or neutered.

“They may have 8 or 10 cats they’re feeding and can’t afford to go and get them neutered and also a lot of times they don’t have the equipement. they don’t have the traps to trap the cats to be able to get them neutered and back their own environment again,” she said.

Fagnani went on to say this has been a growing problem in the region.

“People don’t realize cats can have I believe it’s 4 litters a year, and you figure each of those kittens then at the age of 4 months can be pregnant so they can maybe have 2 litters even in their first year, so it multiplies very very quickly,” she said.
