CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA, (WTAJ) — Every year comic book fans rejoice. The first Saturday in May since 2002 has become known as “Free Comic Book Day.”

The event was first introduced to coincide with the release of Sony’s Spider-Man in 2002. The film followed in the footsteps of X-Men and had the world excited.

Comic books were starting to make a come back.

Almost every year since Comic Book Day has centered around a HUGE Marvel movie release, most recently in 2019 with Avengers: Endgame releasing the week before.

WTAJ has done some digging, made a few calls, knocked on a door or two, and we’ve compiled a list of where you can go in your area to celebrate Free Comic Book Day.

Whether it’s Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Image, Valiant or another comic book company, we can all enjoy May the 4th as much as we do our favorite comic or graphic novel.
