You can help the hungry this weekend without leaving your home.
The United States Postal Service along with the National Association of Letter Carriers are holding 25th Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive in Altoona on Saturday. Just leave non-perishable food items by your mail box and your letter carrier will pick it up.
“We broke a record again,” Robert Kutz from the Blair/Bedford Labor Council said. “We collected 28 tons of food and distributed it to 5 different food banks.
“We are hopeful in collecting that much again this year.”
If you don’t want to leave a bag of food you can also leave a clearly marked envelope with a monetary donation. The food drive on Saturday is part of a national campaign. Food collected will be donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank.
