BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — On Wednesday, officials and families in Blair County came together to raise a flag in honor of child abuse prevention month.
The flag will fly in front of the county’s courthouse in Hollidaysburg for the month of April. Folks hope it will serve as a reminder to anyone walking past the building to report any child abuse they see.
Commissioner Ted Beam said seeing children at the flag raising ceremony sent a strong message about child abuse prevention.
“It’s mind-boggling how anyone could abuse them, in any type of way, and to be able to sort out and find these people and prosecute these people is something that has to be done,” he said.
Blue pinwheels are planted in front of the courthouse also representing the cause.
