STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WTAJ) — Multiple units responded to a fire in Patton Township Sunday evening. The fire took place in Tremont Student Living, in building F.

Alpha Fire Company, as well as Boalsburg, Pleasant Gap, and Bellefonte’s Undine Fire Companies responded to a call that came in at 5:35 pm.

When firefighters arrived, there was heavy smoke coming from the third floor of the building. No one was inside the building when firefighters made their initial checks. When crews began fighting the fire from the inside, the fire became too intense and crews were pulled. All of this according to Alpha Fire Company Chief Jason Troup.

It took just over an hour for the fire to be put down.

The fire caused significant damage. Chief Jason Troup says 24 total units have been displaced, with fire damage in just 6 of those units. The units unaffected by the fire are displaced because there are no utilities available for the building.

There has been no determination of how the fire started at this time, according to Chief Troup.

One firefighter had to be taken to the local hospital for precautionary reasons.

No residents were injured.
