A new grant is helping combat homelessness in Cambria County.
The county was awarded a $268,254 federal Emergency Solutions Grant.
The Cambria County Redevelopment Authority will use the money to provide emergency shelter, street outreach and homelessness prevention.
According to Renee Daly, the redevelopment authority’s executive director, the Blair County Community Action Partnership will receive $28,350 to provide street outreach, including case management and essential services.
Catholic Charities will receive $15,000 to provide homelessness prevention by paying for residents’ utilities.
Community Action Partnership of Cambria County and Blair County Community Action will receive $206,137 combined to provide rapid rehousing, including financial assistance, essential services, and rental assistance to residents.
