The Food and Drug Administration is one step closer to finding the source of an E. coli outbreak linked to romaine lettuce.
The FDA is investigating six California counties as the source of the current outbreak.
Previously, both the FDA and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention urged consumers not to eat any romaine lettuce.
But now, the CDC wants the public to avoid eating romaine harvested from just those six areas.
Those counties are Monterey, San Benito, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz and Ventura.
If you don’t know where your romaine was grown, experts say you should throw it out.
