A family in Huntingdon County is celebrating one of their loved ones this week with a 100th birthday party.
They’re looking to make it extra special this year with a birthday card collection.
“She gives the biggest hugs you’ve ever had, the biggest, strongest, hugs,” said JoKasta Steele, Mabel Hall’s granddaughter. “She’s just unbelievable.”
Steele is 1 of 26 grandkids, followed by 51 great grandchildren, and 9 great, great grandchildren.
The entire family wants to celebrate Mabel’s long life.
“A lot of people you run into know her, they met her, worked with her, have someone that she took care of so we’re trying to get her 100 cards, because she’s 100,” Steele explained.
Mabel Hall credits her life and strength to her faith.
“Well, I tell you, I give the Lord credit, because each new day he gives me, I always thank him too, because he’s the one that gave me breathe.
She’s thankful to be with her family during such a special time.
“I love them all, you’d be surprised. I’ve made sock monkeys for them crotched afghans, a lot of doilies, I just keep busy.”
And to help her celebrate she wants 100 cards, for 100 years of life. Steele hopes they’ll be able to collect them all.
“It’s going to mean the world to her.”
Mabel officially turns 100 next week. You can send cards to 15397 Trough Creek Valley Pike, Huntingdon 16652.
