According to the Tribune Democrat, the body of a military soldier killed while serving in Afghanistan earlier this month was returned home today.

Earlier this month, the Department of Defense announced Private First Class Joshua Mikeasky was killed during a non-combat related incident at an airfield in Afghanistan on December 13.

According to Military Newspaper, Stars and Stripes, the Johnstown native was a healthcare specialist.

Mikeasky enlisted in the army in 2017 after graduating from the Greater Johnstown High School.

The article went on to say Mikeasky’s unit was supporting NATO’s Resolute Support Mission and the U.S. LED Operation Freedom’s Sentinel Training and Advising Afghan Security Forces.
