Margaret Jones officially turns 100 years old on Wednesday, August 16th. What’s her secret?

“The story is that you keep moving,” Jones explained, “Keep moving!”

Margaret Jones is not one to stay still for too long. She’s involved with her church and has even entered her baked goods into the Cambria County Fair and has taken home blue ribbons. She takes walks, weather permitting, and does her best to stay active.

She said,”I just like to get out, and not sitting in the house all the time.”

She credits her health to her diet. She says she never ate anything out of a package and grew her own vegetables.

Jones drove a bus for 19 years for Central and Bishop Carroll. It started as a way to get out of the house but became something she quite enjoyed.  She detailed, “It’s something that grows on you. And the children: most of the children were nice and friendly.”

Jone’s family threw her a surprise birthday party last week, complete with family and friends. While reaching the milestone is a big deal, she says the most special part is being able to spend the time with her family.

She explained, “You can’t beat family, that’s what life is all about. It’s family. Family and the Good Lord.”

The celebration continues with one more party at her home with her family.
