Sandy Township Police Department announced that Officer Patrick Straub has passed away.
Corey Williams, 32, was traveling South on State Route 219 in a 1997 Jeep Cherokee. Williams lost control of his vehicle, traveled into opposing traffic, and struck Officer Straub’s 2015 Toyota 4 Runner.
Officer Straub was traveling with his wife and 3-year-old daughter. His wife and daughter were taken to Penn Highlands Hospital for minor injuries.
Williams and Officer Straub died at the scene from their injuries.
Officer Straub was off duty at the time of the crash, and is survived by his wife and daughter. Officer Straub, a 5-year veteran of the department, will be dearly missed.
