About 100 people marched through Johnstown on Friday for the 4th Annual Peace Walk.

The group included families, students, church leaders, school officials, and law enforcement.

They walked from Trojan Stadium through Hornerstown, where they paused by Johnstown Middle School to honor victims of violence.

Then they walked through Moxham before heading back to the stadium to play games and make a human peace sign on the field.

After two teenagers were shot and killed in a one-week span in December, community members are calling for an end to the violence.

That’s why they said the Peace Walk is so important: to get to know your neighbors, band together and take responsibility to support one another and the city.

“We take that to the street. We take that right down to the residential neighborhoods, especially to the neighborhoods that have been plagued with some violent issues to show them that they’re not alone,” said Rev. Sylvia King, a Johnstown City Councilwoman and one of the march’s organizers. “We recognize what’s going on in their community and we are here to help.”
