Dozens gather for annual safety conference

Dozens of local professionals came together for the annual Allegheny Regional Safety Conference in Johnstown Tuesday.

The conference offers educational workshops as a way for professionals to earn continuing education credits, and to give them the latest safety information in the workplace. Professionals from a variety of fields including manufacturing, education and healthcare were in attendance.

There was also several expert speakers from across the region that led discussions on key topics like workplace bullying and active shooter situation safety.

JARI Workforce Director, Debi Balog, said it’s a great way for local employees to get the training they need while also saving companies money.

She added, “We certainly want to keep our community and folks across the region safe, and that’s one of the main reasons that we put this on, is so everybody is informed and educated and that everyone can be safe whether they’re working in a factory or they’re working in an office.”

This is the 16th year for the conference.
