34 people were arrested this morning for felony drug charges.
These arrests came from an investigation sparked by the grand jury indictments of the drug trade from New York into Blair County. The investigation was led by the Altoona Police Department and State Police with the assistance of Operation Our Town, the State Attorney’s office, and the District Attorney’s Office. The drugs involved range from marijuana to opioids, including heroin.
“The situation in New York and the New york drug trafficking corridor, if you want to call it that, brings a lot of drugs into Blair County which is one of the reasons why we were involved in that investigation heavily,” Blair County District Attorney Rich Consiglio said.
Consiglio says there are 11 more warrants outstanding and that some of the suspects were large scale traffickers.
