A dog training business in Elk County is offering private drug sniffing dog searches– with no police involved.
Top Dog University in St. Marys can teach obedience, train service dogs and even train police K9s.
Owners Ben and Marissa Kleinman trained their own dogs to search for drugs, and they’re ready to offer that service to anyone who needs it.
For Ben, he said they decided to offer this service because he’s had personal experience with the effect drugs can have.
“I can count on two hands now the amount of people I’ve lost to either drug overdoses or suicides related to drugs or whatever and it’s just really important to me personally because I want to help people.”
They can search homes, businesses, schools and vehicles.
“We come in, sweep your, let’s just say your kid’s room, we put post it notes where the dog alerts, we say this is where our dog alerted, you’re free to look at it,” Ben Kleinman said.
When Ben and Marissa come in for a search the police aren’t involved, that way there are no legal consequences.
“It helps make a safer place for the schools, workplace, your home even, just so you know okay there’s really nothing in here,” Marissa Kleinman said.
