More disabled veterans may qulify for the disabled veterans license plate legislation. This legislation was sponsored by Senator Judy Ward (R-30) and was approved by the Senate Transportation Committee Tuesday.
Right now, only veterans with a 100 percent disability qualify for these special plates. This new legislation would change that to a 70 percent or more disability to qualify more veterans.
“Many veterans who have a 70 percent disability still face significant challenges in terms of getting out of the house, making it to appointments, and shopping for the basic necessities of life,” Ward said. “I am hopeful that this bill will not only help improve their mobility, but also remind them that their service to our country is deeply appreciated.”
This bill was sent to the full Senate for consideration.
