The international company, Kitron, is expanding production and bringing more jobs to Johnstown.

Kitron is an electronics manufacturing systems company. The company recently purchased a new Surface Mount Technology assembly line for its office in Richland Township. Employees can now increase production of electronic equipment for defense, aerospace and medical fields.

Kitron is also partnering with JWF Industries to bid on bigger defense contracts. The JWF president, Bob Polacek, said that for every manufacturing job, four other jobs are created.

“That, in turn, brings jobs to this community. Not jobs just at Kitron and JWF, but jobs at other companies in the community. And that’s really the important part,” said Bob Polacek, JWF President & CEO.

Kitron officials said they don’t know exactly how many new workers they will need to hire to fill open positions in manufacturing, engineering and testing.
