Whether you are sending holiday cards or big packages to loved ones around the country, the time to send them out is now.
“Right now, they’re calling December 20th for priority mail. It’s still not guaranteed to get there, but it’s closer than waiting,” Xena Price, employee of the U.S. Post Office inside the Film Center in Altoona said.
She said their post office is like Santa’s workshop with all of the holiday shipping going on.
“We’ve sold a lot of stamp here at this location. The packages are coming in like crazy,” Price said.
As for what not to send, Price said shipping liquids through USPS is a big no-no.
“A lot of people don’t understand that we can’t send liquids. It is a fine if they get caught sending the liquids,” Price said.
If you need to send liquids, check the shipping guidelines for UPS and FedEx.
December 22nd is the deadline for express shipping, which costs almost $25.
