Dancers aim to set world record

In honor of National Dance Day on July 29th, the Johnstown Concert Ballet is hosting its first-ever BridgeFest Color Run & Dance Party. They want to set the world record for the largest crowd dancing across an historic bridge.

Everyone is invited to come out to the Minersville Bridge in Cambria City on Saturday, July 29 to help set the world record. They plan to film the dance using a drone and are inviting a representative from Guinness World Records to make it official.

Before the world record attempt, they’ll kick off the day with a color run/walk to raise money for the Johnstown Concert Ballet DanceWorks program. Runners will be sprayed with colorful, chalk-like paint.

After the color run/walk and the dance party, there will be free dance performances.

One of the board members said the dance party is a way to have fun and bring people of all ages and backgrounds together, even if they don’t have all the moves.

“Movement and dance is so good for the body, the mind and the spirit. We hope this event connects the community. Brings people together. Demonstrates a love or caring or appreciation for music and how important it is for us to be doing this throughout our lifetimes,” said Rosemary Pawlowski, a Johnstown Concert Ballet board member.

Anyone is welcome to attend BridgeFest Color Run & Dance Party at the Minersville Bridge on 4th and Power Streets in Johnstown.

The run starts at 9 a.m., the dance starts at 11 a.m. and the performances begin at noon on Saturday, July 29.
