HARRISBURG, DAUPHIN COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – Pennsylvania Speaker of the House Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) announced Friday that Rep. Fred Keller (R-12th District) has officially resigned his House seat.

Keller, who has represented the 85th Legislative District, was elected Tuesday to the U.S. House of Representatives replacing former Congressman Tom Marino who resigned in January for personal reasons.

The 85th is the largest legislative district in the state and includes Snyder and Union Counties.

Turzai says Keller’s legislative office in Mifflinburg will remain open to serve the district’s constituents.

He also says a date for a special election to fill the House seat will be announced within a week.
