Later this month is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The event on April 29th aims to provide safe, convenient, and responsible means for disposing of prescription drugs.
Many police departments have locations where you can drop off unused medication.
A local company is now helping to distribute a take home bag that can dispose of the drugs. Patrick LaVella is the manager at Value Drug Co. Compliance.
“We can provide bags to person or family. The excess pills are dumped into a bag. There’s water added, its shaken up and can be thrown away in the trash. The drug is deactivated,” he explained.
Coming up Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. WTAJ will have a live guest in the studio to talk more about the drug take back program and how people can get the take home bags.
