Families, children and community members were walking to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer Sunday night.

People going around the Mansion Park Stadium track in honor of those both battling cancer and those who passed away from the disease.

We caught up with one of the organizers of the event. She said her son died of cancer in 2003 and since she’s been doing everything she can to help others in our are deal with cancer.

“Unfortunately any of these children out here could be diagnosed with cancer,” Dawn Morden, from the Brian Morden Foundation, said. “We don’t want that to continue to happen and we don’t want them to go through the same struggles all these other kids had to go through.”

This walk was part of the go for the gold events.
