The first public meeting for the Centre Region Comprehensive Recreation, Parks, and Open Space will be held January 30 at 7 p.m. at the State College Area High School cafeteria.

The study’s consultants from Yost Strodoski Mears and Recreation Park Solutions will present an overview of the year-long study on topic areas, key person interviews, inventories, and more.

The study is focused on the Centre Region municipalities of State College, and College, Ferguson, Halfmoon, Harris, and Patton Townships.

After the presentation, there will be time for questions and small group discussions on parks, trails, environmental education, swimming pools, and youth and adult programming.

“The Agency is very excited about the study’s first public meeting and hearing from all interest areas whether you are a dog park user, a birder, cyclist, playground adventurer, trail walker, or utilize the area’s parks for youth or adult sports,” said Parks and Recreation Director, Pam Salokangas. “We want your ideas so that we can better shape the future of parks and recreation for the area!”

If there is bad weather, the meeting will be moved to February 6 at 7 p.m. If the meeting is moved, the Centre Region Parks and Recreation will alert the community of the change on their website and on social media.
