A family of three lost everything after flames tore through their Altoona home early Friday morning.
The community is now coming together and donating items to help the family rebuild.
“It’s emotional because you never really realize how many nice people there are out there that step up when someone does really need the help,” Amber Miller, a victim of the fire, said.
Another collection will be taking place on Wednesday, October 17, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Tommy Talks PA office in Altoona. The address is 1331 12th Avenue, Suite 111.
Clothes, personal hygiene products, bed linens, bath towels, and any other items for a house are all being collected.
The Because We Care Foundation also released information on their Facebook page on how to help the family. The post read in part:
“A family of 3 on 10th St and 17th Ave lost everything in a fire early this AM. They are in need of clothes and anything else that can help them start over.
Girls clothes 14/16, Adult small shirts, Size 9 shoes
Adult male size 34 pants, xl shirts, 11/12 shoes
Adult female 26/28 or 4x, shirts 4x, 10 shoes
Supplies for 4 dogs

The fire happened on 10th Street and 17th Avenue. Three homes were damaged. One was declared a total loss.
Luckily no injuries were reported.
