A community came together Saturday night during a prayer vigil for anyone impacted by the recent deadly shooting in Altoona.
The service was held in the parking lot at the Bethany Lutheran Church, the same place the murder happened Thursday night.
Dozens of people, including police officers, gathered in prayer and song to remember those dealing with the tragedy.
Of course, it’s been a tough few days for neighbors not used to dealing with this kind of crime. Saturday night was a form of hope to show this recent incident doesn’t define the area.
“It not only has us praying for what happened, but it also begins to open dialogue for how we as a community can make sure something like this doesn’t happen again,” Pastor Drew McCaffery, from Bethany Lutheran Church, said.
Anyone was welcome to attend.
