More than 200 people showed up to the annual National Night Against Crime held Wednesday at the Tyrone Community Pool.

Local emergency responders were out in full force, showing off their fire trucks, police vehicles, and even the new puppy from Heaven Scent Search and Rescue.

Officials say events like this are the perfect opportunity to build a stronger relationship with the community. There was plenty of food and prizes handed out at the pool.

“We get called on people’s worst days so even we get burned out with doing that kind of thing,” said Sgt. Jason Hollis of the Tyrone Borough Police Department.

“This is one of our chances to come out, meet with the community, get them to see us as regular humans and interact with them as regular humans. Not on a bad basis but a good basis.”
