A coal miner working at AK Coal in Jenner Township was killed Thursday morning.
That miner was originally believed to have serious injuries, but was pronounced dead by the coroner soon after.
Police say the victim was 35-year-old Nevin Joel Hostetter of Central City. They say at 3 a.m. Thursday morning he was operating a mobile bridge conveyor when the injury occurred.
According to police- co-workers found Hostetter and work quickly to get him out of the mine.
The investigation is ongoing pending an autopsy.
