November is National Diabetes Awareness Month.
The Children’s Miracle Network at Geisinger wants you to know that each year they work to help provide Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital with the equipment, programs and services to help children diagnosed with pediatric diabetes.
According to a study by the Center of Disease Control, nearly 18,000 people younger than 20 years old are newly diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes annually and 5,000 people of the same age group are annually diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.
The Children’s Miracle Network at Geisinger says each year donations are used to purchase books for newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetic patients. The books provide information to families in terms they and their children can understand. The Children’s Miracle Network at Geisinger provides these books to the families at no cost.
Donations are used to help fund Camp Setebaid, which allows kids dealing with diabetes to have a fun camping experience together. The camp is one of nearly a dozen specialty camps that receive funding from Children’s Miracle Network at Geisinger.
