Children in state college are learning basic STEM-skills in a fun and creative way.

Bricks4Kidz is an educational program, where kids are able to learn basic engineering and architecture skills by building with Legos.

Various camps are held throughout the summer with different themes.

The Bricks4Kidz State College director said that these skills are great for anyone.

“I think it’s good for any age really. Even Adults. But it’s good for your hand-eye coordination. It’s good to learn how to think like an architect to make a structure,” Bricks4Kidz State College Director Lynn Pelchar said.

All instructors have a clearances and a background in education. Pelchar is currently working towards her Masters in LEGO (R) construction.

Pelchar said the program is a great way for children to learn

“It’s great for hand-eye coordination, for developing attention span and self-confidence as kids follow a step-by-step plan to completion, expanding engineering skills and creativity, developing problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, and some kids learn to think like an architect.  We talk about the factors to be considered when designing and building a structure,” Pelchar said in an email.

Before building, there is a lesson about the topics to teach children more about the topic and to see what they already know.

Children can be signed up HERE or by stopping in the day of.

Pelchar said Bricks4Kidz also does birthday parties, work with Scouts, homeschool groups, private events and much more.
