Two charities in the region cannot solicit for donations, after the Pennsylvania Department of State said they weren’t in compliance with The Charitable Purposes Act.

 

Huntingdon County Pride in Huntingdon and American Archeology Abroad Inc. in State College are the charities involved in the area.

 

Huntingdon County Pride said it’s a paperwork issue, which they thought was already taken care of and have since reached out to the Department of State to get the matter cleared up.

 

Nearly 20 other charities across the state are facing the same disciplinary action.

 

 

Below is a statement from Huntingdon County Pride, regarding Tuesdays announcement:

 

“On March 28, 2017, Huntingdon County PRIDE received notice from the Department of State that they did not have a filing document for the previous year. This paperwork was completed by our auditors, and filed in January of 2016.  We submitted a letter to the Department of State on March 31, 2017 which stated that we had indeed made the proper filing in a timely matter, along with a copy of the document .  The following week, we contacted the Department of State, and we were informed they received the copy we sent them.  We were under the impression this was a closed matter, until today when we received a media inquiry of Charitable Organization status. We have contacted the Department of State and continue to investigate this matter until properly resolved.”
