A local dentist remains out on bail after his preliminary hearing Wednesday morning.
Dr. Wade Newman’s charges were bound over for trial.
Newman is accused of raping a patient while she was unconscious following surgery.
Newman worked at the Bellefonte Family Dentistry in Centre County.
A criminal complaint says the victim instructed Dr. Newman to drop her off at her mothers house after the surgery was finished.
Instead, he took her to her own home, where he reportedly raped her, according to investigators.
The victim didn’t feel right after the anesthesia wore off and believed her dentist raped her. She reported the rape at Mount Nittany Medical Center, where a rape kit was used to collect evidence.
